The hockey world is still in complete shock over the passing of NHL superstar Johnny "Hockey" Gaudreau.
Johnny and his brother Matthew were struck by a vehicle near their home in Salem County, New Jersey, on Thursday night. Unfortunately, both Johnny and Matthew passed away as a result of the accident.
Despite the tragedy, NHL legends continue to find ways to pay their respects to Johnny. In the case of former Flames captain Jerome Iginla, the tragedy has impacted him on a profound level. This is what he had to say:
«While I never had the privilege to play with Johnny, the times we met or played against each other, I could feel how special he was,» Iginla wrote. «His love of the game and positive energy radiated from him. ‘Johnny Hockey' made our sport better in many special ways.
«My family and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to have spent time with him and we will always be his fans.»
Johnny Gaudreau's impact on the city of Calgary has not gone unnoticed. On Wednesday, Flames fans gathered by the thousands in a candle lit ceremony, grieving together as a hockey community.
Jets Latest continues to send their condolences to the Gaudreau family in wake of this awful tragedy.
