Leafs fans are calling Perfetti a viable trade option
Winnipeg Jets fans are starting to get a little bit nervous concerning their top RFA Cole Perfetti.
The NHL offseason is coming to a close, and general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff has failed to finish his last point of business regarding Perfetti's contract extension. As Perfetti still remains a RFA, fans across the league are still considering him a viable trade option.
Leafs Updates, a prominent fan page on X (formally known as twitter) is starting to stir up an interesting conversation in Leafs Nation. Although Kevin Cheveldayoff has mentioned that getting Cole Perfetti's contract done remains a top priority for the club, a deal remains unseen.
While there has been ample debate over whether it's going to be a bridge deal or a longer-term extension, Perfetti is set to return to a top-six forward role this fall and he's poised for a breakout season. With that in mind, it would be in his best interest to get a deal done prior to training camp.
There have also been reports of positive communication between newly appointed head coach Scott Arniel and Perfetti. The continued developed relationship between the two has fans convinced a long-term contract extension could also be considered.
As long as a highly talented RFA like Perfetti remains unsigned, fan bases throughout the NHL will do anything to sniff out any trades ideas within the realm of possibility for their respective clubs.
