Former Winnipeg Jets defenceman Nate Schmidt pairs up with former head coach Paul Maurice to chase Stanley Cup glory.

A recent interview with former Winnipeg Jets defenceman Nate Schmidt reveals that he ultimately chose to sign with the Florida Panthers because of his positive experience playing under former head coach Paul Maurice.
«My biggest ups when I was in Winnipeg was when I was under Paul Maurice"

The road for Nate Schmidt has not been an easy one to say the least. When analyzing his metrics playing in Winnipeg, its clear that his game suffered, specifically his offensive production.
But with a new place to call home in Florida, Nate Schmidt hopes that playing under a familiar face will help him revamp his game. Schmidt and Maurice have a well documented relationship that was built off mutual respect, and now, Schmidt admits that he's chasing a ring with his former coach.
"And honestly, I just felt like he was somebody who understood my game and knows how to unlock the most out of his guys. I felt that comfort level, and with Paul and this team, I'm just chasing a ring. That's all I want. I just want to win. I want to be a part of it, too.»

Schmidt had 14 points in 63 regular-season games for Winnipeg last season and was a +10 rating on the ice.
