Paul Stastny is one of those veteran NHL players who commands the respect of the league, but never was able to attain Stanley Cup glory.

The 2018 Winnipeg Jets team was arguably the most promising one in Jets 2.0 history. While the team already had a tremendously strong core, the Stastny acquisition put them right over the top and the team was poised for a deep playoff
The Jets fell to the Vegas Golden Knights in five games and Stastny left that summer, signing ironically enough with the Golden Knights. However, like the Duchene trade with the Blue Jackets, Stastny going to the Jets and helping them make a significant run had a lot of significance for the fanbase.

Since moving back to Winnipeg, the fans had never experienced a deep playoff run and they finally got one in 2018 as they made it to the conference final. It doesn't happen without that trade.

Although Stastny was considered the missing piece to the puzzle for the Winnipeg Jets, the ultimate rental player fell short of Stanley Cup glory. During their playoff run, Stastny recored a respectable 6 goals and 9 assists for the Jets.
