The Winnipeg Jets had one of the worst power plays in the NHL last season.

Ranked at an abysmal 22nd in the league overall, many Jets fans are wondering how a team with so much offensive firepower can struggle so much.
With that in mind, the Winnipeg Jets have hired special team specialist Dean Chynoweth as assistant coach. With a new power play structure set to be implemented, what do the Jets need to do in order to become more effective 5V4?
It just comes down to coaching and having a strong power play system in place. That includes strong breakouts and zone entries. Then, once they are in the zone, with the talent they have, just keep it simple.

Scheifele is very strong on the puck at generating offence, so he needs to have a plan of how to do that and execute. They need someone like that down low with Scheifele forcing the play to the net. Moreover, this should open up room for Connor and Morrissey to move into more favourable goal creating locations on the ice.

To summarize, the Jets will need to focus on keeping it simple and executing properly. Last year, the Jets were caught multiple times with their pants down trying to force unnecessary passes and being too fancy. This year, the Jets will look to sharpen up in order to climb up the power play ranks.
