Alex Formenton will be retiring from hockey at the age of 24 and will now work construction full-time

The charges are in response to an alleged crime that involved Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Dillon Dube, and Cal Foote in a hotel room after a Hockey Canada event in London, Ontario. Formenton turned himself into police, and intends to plead not guilty along with the rest of the players. A trial for the five players is set to begin in September of 2025.
According to court documents obtained by the CBC, Formenton has "moved on from a hockey career" and now works full time in construction. He's receiving "ongoing training in the operation of heavy equipment as well as the administration aspects of his new trade."
Formenton was Ottawa's second-round draft pick in 2017, played 109 games for the Sens. In 109 career NHL games, Formenton only scored 23 goals and 39 points. He played two seasons in the Swiss-A league before deciding to call it quits on his career.
Lawyers have indicated all five players will plead not guilty at their trial, which begins one year from now in September 2025.
