The buzz around Nikolaj Ehlers continues to be electrifying as we enter the midway point of the NHL offseason.

A recent article has surfaced about the New York Rangers potentially joining in the hunt for Nikolaj Ehlers, but just how would acquiring the Danish forward benefit their team?
Ehlers is a consistent 25-goal, 60-point NHL player. In 605 games with the Jets, he has scored 201 goals and totaled 457 points. Last season, each of his 25 goals were scored at even strength. Perhaps with more of a power-play opportunity with the Hurricanes, he could surpass 30 goals for the first time.

In a shocking turn, many Rangers enthusiasts are saying that the team should stay clear of Nikolaj Ehlers. Although Ehlers comes with a unique arsenal and skillset, the Rangers would not benefit from adding on a left winger as they are already loaded with talent in that category.
Instead, the Rangers media encourage their divisional rivals in Carolina to join the hunt for Ehlers instead. With the possibility of Martin Necas leaving the team, Ehlers would be a suitable replacement.
Ehlers wouldn't swing the balance of power away from the Rangers in the division, but his addition would help the Hurricanes standing and their attempt to reach the Stanley Cup Playoffs for a seventh straight season.
