There's a lot of uncertainty in the air when looking ahead to the 2024-2025 NHL season.

Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff took a hard pass on acquiring talented UFA's during the offseason, shifting his focus on building the team internally. With that in mind, fans are voicing their concerns regarding the Winnipeg Jets ability to be true Stanley Cup contenders.
Are the Jets going to match last year's point total? Are they finally going to advance further in the playoffs?
Ken Wiebe, an acreditted writer for the Winnipeg Jets too the stage to voice his opinion on the growing fan concern.
I'll answer the first question this way. It will be difficult for the Jets to match last season's point total, but they could easily be in the 100-to-109 point range and still compete with the Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche for the Central Division crown.

The more pressing matter for the Jets is trying to figure out the playoff portion of the equation. Qualifying for the playoffs isn't an easy task, but after consecutive early exits in the first round, the Jets need to show that they've learned from the disappointments and are ready to move forward.

Wiebe suggests that the Jets are still playoff contenders. But in order for the Jets to get over their first round playoff woes, they will need to make a huge trade a some point to bring in some high end talent.
