Bleacher report, a prominent sports website indicates that the Winnipeg will have a worse season in 2024-25 than the season prior.

This comes as no real surprise to Jets enthusiats who have been victim to a horrendous offseason so far. The dynamic since free agency has been relatively confusing for the team and its fanbase. GM Kevin Cheveldayoff has shifted his strategy by looking internally to his farm system prospects rather than recruiting elite UFA's to join the Jets.
They've made one trade in which they brought in defenseman Dylan Coghlan from Carolina and their top free-agent signings to this point are re-signing Colin Miller, Eric Comrie (from Buffalo), Jaret Anderson-Dolan (Nashville), Kaapo Kähkönen (New Jersey) and Haydn Fleury (Tampa Bay). While they will help make them a deeper team, they're not the kinds of players who will put them over the top in a tough Central Division and Western Conference.

Winnipeg is a team in need of moves to be made and it's also a team that wants to improve on what it did this past season. Right now, it sure seems like the Jets are going to be cruising at a lower altitude without any further adjustments.

Although Bleacher report believes the Jets have regressed this offseason, there is some optimism that fans can feel good about. The team still has premium tradable assets regarding Nikolaj Ehlers and top prospect Rutger McGroarty which could help bring in some high end talent down the stretch.
In addition, the team will have over $63 Million dollars in free cap space heading into the 2025-26 offseason. The Jets will have to work with what they have, but I'm still bullish on the Jets and I believe they will be playoff contenders once again this season.
