Breaking news out of Carolina as the Hurricanes are paying homage to NHL veteran Eric Staal.
Eric Staal will be signed to a one day contract and will be retired as a Hurricane. In addition to that, they will hold on on ice ceremony for him and his jersey number will be up in the rafters.
The Carolina Hurricanes owe a lot to Staal as the veteran helped them win their first Stanley Cup in 2006 against the Edmonton Oilers.
This is a move that is definitely going to make Hurricanes fans happy. Overall, Staal is one of the biggest legends in the history of the franchise. He has done so much for the team, and he certainly deserves the honor.
Many NHL enthusiasts believe that Staal is a strong candidate to be inducted into the hockey hall of fame.
