According to Oilers insider Bob Stauffer, the Edmonton Oilers are set to sign forward Leon Draisaitl to an 8 year contract extension.
The announcement of Draisaitl's contract appears imminent, with leaks indicating that Draisaitl might even accept a salary discount to keep the team competitive. Jiri Poner, another of Draisaitl's agents, mentioned that the deal could be finalized early next week.
Although the value of the contract hasn't been disclosed, this comes as massive news for Oil Nation as it appears their goal scoring star will be staying with the team for another 8 years.
Once this deal is set in stone, the Oilers will be poised to be cup contenders for the next decade.
