Breaking news out of Spokane as former Winnipeg Jets assistant bench boss Brad Lauer has been hired as the new head coach for the Chiefs.

Just months after being fired by the Winnipeg Jets, former assistant coach Brad Lauer has found new employment as the new head coach for the WHL's Spokane Chiefs.
The former Jets assistant coach spent two years behind the bench under retired head coach Rick Bowness. Lauer was mainly responsible for delegating the power play, which ultimately lead to his demise as the Jets ranked 22nd in that department.
«I'm grateful and excited to lead a team with such a rich hockey history,» Lauer said in a media release. «During this process, I had great conversations with (general manager) Matt (Bardsley) regarding the organization, community and direction of the team. I'm looking forward to working with our players and staff to reach our full potential.»

Lauer is just the 16th head coach in Spokane Chiefs history and will look to re-solidify himself as a professional as a bench boss in the WHL.
