Breaking news out of Vancouver as Thatcher Demo will reportedly be playing through an injury throughout the 2024-25 NHL season

Thatcher Demko, the ace goaltender for the Vancouver Canucks is dealing with an irreparable injury as per Elliotte Friedman. Demko was taken out of the Canucks lineup last year due to a lower body injury, and the damage remain permanent. According to sources, the injury cannot be fixed via surgical intevention.
According to Friedman, there may not be a timeline to when Demko can return to game action. Friedman also stated that the injury Demko has sustained will need to be nursed throughout the season as surgery is unable to fix the issue.
But with recent reports of Demko skating again, many felt that this means he has turned a corner and that he could likely return to the lineup just prior to the season starting. It remains to be seen if this will take place or he will remain on the sidelines fort he foreseeable future.
Demko became a Vezina Trophy finalist for the first time by going 35-14-2 with a 2.45 GAA, .918 save percentage and five shutouts in 51 games of the 2023-24 season. He helped the Canucks win the Pacific Division, their first division title in 10 years, and finish with 109 points, 26 more than in 2022-23.
According to Friedman, there is a strong possibility that Demko could be missing half the 2024-25 NHL season. This is an absolute gut wrenching update for Vancouver Canucks fans.
