This is obviously a great proposition for the Jets. Travis Konecny is a proven NHL veteran who has a knack for finding the back of the net. He's scored back to back 30 goal seasons for the Flyer and is heading into the last year of his contract.
On the other side, the Jets would be offloading a player who has caused lots of turmoil for the organization as of late.
Rutger McGroarty was been causing negative headlines left right and center. The Jets top prospect has made it clear that playing in Winnipeg is no longer something he's interested in as McGroarty is reportedly "unhappy" with the organization.
The Jets also get another center whose name has been on the rumor mill all year, in Scott Laughton, who has two more years left at a $3 million cap hit. The Flyers get an exciting young prospect in McGroarty, and about $6 million saved in cap space.
This is a situation GM Cheveldayoff should be jumping all over. With additions like Laughton and Konecny, the Jets would be easily poised to be Stanley Cup contenders.
