Jets and Penguins swap top prospects

The Winnipeg Jets have acquired Brayden Yager from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Rutger McGroarty.

The announcement was made official this morning by Sportsnet insider Elliot Friedman on X (formally known as twitter)
The blockbuster exchange entails two top prospects for their respective franchises. Although the Jets lose their 14th overall draft pick, they gain a highly talented player in Brayden Yager.
Yager spent the 2023-24 season with the Moose Jaw Warriors in the WHL where he racked up 35 goals and 60 assists for 95 points in 57 games. Yager added 11 goals and 27 points in 20 WHL Playoff contests as Moose Jaw captured the WHL Championship and placed a birth in the Memorial Cup. In 211 career WHL games, Yager has scored 104 goals and 146 assists, including 50 points in 40 playoff games.

Yager is a 2023 first-round draft pick by the Penguins, and is ranked the No. 24 prospect available his 2023 NHL Draft Rankings.
