The Winnipeg Jets NHL off season has generated some mixed reviews amongst hockey enthusiasts around the league.

Some sources have praised Kevin Cheveldayoff for his relaxed approach to free agency, but other hockey insiders like TSN's Darren Dreger have been more critical.
Dreger: "Tough day for the Winnipeg Jets, by the way, they tried to extend Sean Monahan, that didn't work, he goes to Columbus, they tried on Henrique...that didn't work, they tried on Lizotte, that didn't work. Chevy's got some lifting to do" (Ray & Dregs Podcast)

The scrutiny is especially significant when analyzing the Jets depth at the center position. They missed the opportunity to re-sign and scoop up elite centers and now face a critical situation heading into the 2024-2025 regular season.
Jacob Billington, an accredited writer at The Hockey Writers.com had this to say about the Winnipeg Jets situation concerning their depth at center:
As of July 3, the Jets' center depth is looking pretty weak unless Gabriel Vilardi or Cole Perfetti move to the middle of the ice. With Mark Scheifele, Adam Lowry, Vladislav Namestnikov, David Gustafsson, and Shaw, the Jets have one of the weakest center groups among teams looking to make the 2025 Playoffs.

As Darren Dreger reported, GM Kevin Cheveldayoff has some heavy lifting to do if the Winnipeg Jets want any shot at being Stanley Cup contenders next season.
