As we await the highly anticipated start to the 2024-25 NHL regular season, multiple Winnipeg Jets players face the most important season of their careers.

Kappo Kahkonnen, the newly acquired goaltender prospect from the New Jersey Devils is heading into a crucial season.
Lots of uncertainties surround the Jets between the pipes next season. The team currently has three solid options to choose from to backup Vezina winning Connor Hellebuyck, and Kahkonen seems to be the front runner for the job.
Kahkonen was in a tough situation playing in San Jose as he received no help and had his numbers significantly diminished as he recorded a 3.71 goals against average and a .892 save percentage in 79 games. When playing elsewhere he has seen much better numbers like a 2.89 goals against average with the Wild and a 2.51 average with the Devils. Kahkonen is likely a rental for the team as high-end prospect Thomas Milic is still developing.

Although Kahkonen has been deemed a rental, he's heading into one of the best goaltending development systems in the NHL. It would be wise for Kahkonen to utilize all the resources around him to increase his value for future considerations.
