Nikolaj Ehlers was the talk of the town for the past few weeks, but the trade conversations have fizzled off.
It was rumoured that forward Nikolaj Ehlers was linked to the Carolina Hurricanes in what would have been a block buster exchange between Martin Necas and Nikolaj Ehlers.
Although that trade scenario still exists, Martin Necas has elected for salary arbitration, making a trade somewhat less likely for the GM Kevin Cheveldayoff.
Sports illustrated recently came out with an article breaking down the likelihood of Ehlers staying in the Jets organization, and fans are starting to come to the conclusion that this could likely be the case.
«If they were going to move on from him it would be to get an upgrade offensively,» Corrado said. «If that is not available to them, then it doesn't make sense to move on from that player.»
If a prime trade opportunity doesn't present itself, trading Ehlers away makes no sense to the organization.
Ehlers is heading to the last year of his $6 million AAV per season contract with the Jets and is poised to be an impact player on the second line.
