The Edmonton Oilers are facing some serious scrutiny after announcing they have hired former Chicago Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman.

The breaking news was released this morning, and the Oilers are taking a massive gamble hiring Bowman who was disgraced due to his handling of the Kyle Beach incident.
The league reinstated Bowman, coach Joel Quenneville and fellow executive Al MacIsaac earlier this month. Bowman resigned as Chicago's GM in 2021 after an independent investigation found the organization mishandled the allegations made in 2010 by player Kyle Beach that he was sexually assaulted by video coach Brad Aldridge.

Bowman, 51, ran the Blackhawks when they won the Stanley Cup in 2010, 2013 and 2015.

The hiring has generated mixed reviews in Oil Country. Some die hard fans believe that Bowman deserves a second chance after serving his penance since stepping down back in 2021.
On the other hand, many NHL enthusiasts are standing behind "cancel culture" and believe Bowman never should be allowed to work in the league again.
Despite the controversy, the announcement is official and the Edmonton Oilers are sure to be the centre of attention ahead of the 2024-25 NHL season.
