Former Winnipeg Jets top prospect Rutger McGroarty has been traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins in return for Brayden Yager.

The trade comes as no real shock to Winnipeg Jets fans who saw this coming a mile away. Elliot Friedman disclosed on his 32 thoughts podcast before the 2024 NHL Draft that Rutger McGroarty wanted out due to being "unhappy" with the Jets. But was there more to the picture?
Recently, Jets general manager spoke about the Rutger McGroarty situation and gave fans some insight as to what potentially went wrong. Kevin Cheveldayoff
"That's the first inkling that we got, there was nothing that was going to come to fruition there," Cheveldayoff said. "We sat down and asked the agent why and he didn't have an answer, he didn't have a reason. ... he just said he just didn't feel right, it started in development camp where he just didn't feel right.

Jets fans have a right to feel extremely disrespected in this situation. Not only has Rutger made things incredibly difficult for the Winnipeg Jets, fans feel like he never really tried to embrace the city of Winnipeg.
From the get-go, Rutger was "unhappy" and "didn't feel right" in Winnipeg. Fans should feel relieved that their Prima Dona prospect is out of the organization for good.
