The dog days of summer are currently in full swing and PTO's seem to be the big topic of conversation lately.

With that in mind, the Winnipeg Jets still have a few options heading into the 2024-2025 NHL season. Although Winnipeg Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff has gone radio silent the past few weeks, fans look ahead to potential UFA's which could help the Jets next season. Tyler Johnson, a proven NHL veteran is a noteworthy candidate.
This 34-year old winger from Spokane, Washington has remained underrated throughout his NHL career. Despite his size, this undrafted gem was quite incredible while playing for an elite Tampa Bay Lightning team. The last 3 seasons Johnson played on a rebuilding Blackhawks team, but still found ways to be fairly productive in a relatively important spot in the lineup.

The Jets could use Johnson as an all-around utility player, who could add some scoring touch to the bottom 6, all while providing experience for any younger players who might crack the Jets roster this upcoming season.

Despite his age, fans still have reason to believe Johnson still has some offensive upside to his game. The combination of his NHL experience and skill would make him an ideal fit for the Jets bottom 6. If Johnson remains untouched heading into training camp, a PTO should be considered.
