The Athletic recently came out with an article breaking down the Winnipeg Jets cap relief in 2025.
The Winnipeg Jets will be receiving more than $42.7 million dollars in cap space relief ahead of the 2025 NHL season.
I think its pretty safe to say that the Jets will have have far more impactful 2025 offseason just based off the figures alone. With that being said, the Athletic provides some insight as to what objectives the Winnipeg Jets should focus on with their new projected budget.
Winnipeg will have major purchasing power left over after Morgan Barron, Dylan Samberg and Rasmus Kupari are signed to modest RFA extensions. Adding a high-end top-four defender, ideally on the right side, should be the club's top priority but GM Kevin Cheveldayoff will have the flexibility to make other upgrades, too.
The Athletic suggests that the addition of a high end top 4 defender should be a priority for general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff.
The Jets will need to work with what they have right now, but next years offseason will definitely prove to be a wild ride for Jets enthusiasts.
