Being 30 years old is an awkward age at the NHL level. You're no longer considered a spring chicken, and contract negotiations prove to be somewhat tougher for players past their prime.

In his defence, Iafallo has been proven to be consistent throughout his career. The key to generating sustainable employment in the NHL is consistency, and Iafallo has delivered in that category to an extent.
He has been a very consistent 30-40 point player and hitting that mark in five of his last six seasons. Last year was a down season for Iafallo as he finished with just 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points and mirrored his rookie season from the 2017-18 season.
The pressure is mounting for Alex Iafallo. Unfortunately, the 30 year old forward cannot afford another mediocre season with the Jets. Despite being consistent, Iafallo must have a career season if we wants any shot at a long term lucrative deal.
