With the NHL off season reaching a midway point, the Winnipeg Jets are still lacking crucial depth in their top 6 to be considered true cup contenders.
Kevin Cheveldayoff has made some progress in terms of making upgrades to his farm system, but will now need to focus on making at least one impactful trade before the debut of the 2024-25 regular season.
The Jets could use more offense in their top-six forward group, particularly at second-line center, following the loss of Monahan and Toffoli in free agency.
It was announced that the Jets were on the cusp of acquiring Martin Necas from the Carolina Hurricanes, but the deal ultimately fell through the cracks as Necas didnt want sign longterm in Winnipeg.
Kevin Cheveldayoff also tried to make a deal happen to acquire forward Connor McMicheal from the Washington capitals but ultimately that deal fell through as well.
Will time still remaining on the clock, Kevin Cheveldayoff will need to strike soon if he wants any chance at bolstering if offence, specifically in the top 6.
