Breaking news out of Winnipeg as the Jets announce they have signed defenceman Haydn Fleury from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The reported deal is one year two-way contract worth $775,000 AAV in the NHL and $400,000 in the AHL with $450,000 guaranteed.
Fleury played in 24 regular-season games for the Lightning last year, earning five points with 40 blocked shots and 31 hits. The 27-year-old did not make a postseason appearance. Fleury will have a tough time getting much NHL time in 2024-25 and should be expected to be a frequent healthy scratch or an organizational depth option at AHL Manitoba.
This comes a very welcomed news for Jets enthusiasts as they are receiving an NHL veteran who can provide depth and support on the blue line for their Manitoba Moose AHL affiliate.
Fleury is a former first round draft pick back in 2014 selected by the Carolina Hurricanes. Although the defenceman has struggled severely since his emergence in the NHL, perhaps coming to Winnipeg will allow Fleury to revamp his game.
