Breaking news out of Winnipeg as they have announced the acquisition on defenceman Dylan Coghlan from the Carolina Hurricanes.

This comes a solid move by GM Kevin Cheveldayoff as the Jets have recently seen talented defensive UFA's walk away from the organization. The reported trade is a low risk situation which entails Coghlan for a conditional 7th round draft pick.
The news was first broken by Elliotte Friedman, with the Jets acquiring the 6-foot-2 blueliner who has shown the ability to score well in the AHL, netting 15, 11 and 16 goals in his three full AHL seasons.

His only lengthy NHL experience came with Vegas back in 2021-22 where he played in 59 games, tallying 3 goals and 13 points over that time, but after just 1 game with Carolina a year ago, it's unclear what his role in Winnipeg will be.

Although Coghlan has seen limited minutes in the NHL the past few seasons, perhaps coming to Winnipeg will present an opportunity to revamp his game.
