Former Winnipeg Jets defenceman Jacob Trouba is making headlines for one of the spiciest trade offseason trade rumors we've seen yet.

The Buffalo Sabres nearly completed a blockbuster trade involving Kaapo Kakko and New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba. However, Trouba used his no-movement clause to block the move, similar to his earlier rejection of a trade with the Detroit Red Wings.

Jacob Trouba invoked his no movement trade clause, and its looking like Ranger GM Chris Drury will continue to explore different options for the Rangers captain.
The trade situation becomes further complex as Trouba's wife begins her doctoral residency in New York, in addition to the birth of his first born son. Trouba is doing everything he can do remain in New York at this point.
Despite the setback, the Sabres remain interested in Kakko, hoping the young forward can help end their 13-year playoff drought. Buffalo and New York had nearly finalized a deal for both players, which would have significantly cleared cap space for the Rangers. Trouba may stay with the Rangers for another season if no trade occurs.
