Winnipeg Jets prospect has a massive opportunity ahead of the 2024-25 NHL season.
Its no secret that Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff made no impactuful acquisitions during the NHL offseason. Instead, Cheveldayoff is looking internally to his farm system in order for his young guns to seize the opportunity at the pro level.
Colby Barlow is a noteworthy prospect for the Jets looking to make noise during team Canada's world juniors summer showcase. With that being said, Barlow is also looking to make strides in order to crack the Jets roster to prove he's NHL ready.
Barlow knows he needs to do more than just find the net, something he's excelled at with 116 goals in 168 OHL games. It begins with keeping pace with the tempo of the game.
"I think my skating has come a long way from first being drafted to now,» Barlow said. «It's still got a lot to improve, but I think that I've taken the right steps towards that. I think I'm starting to grow into my body a little bit more.
Although Barlow might no make the team this year, the young propsect is doing everything he can right now to make himself standout. Making team Canada will definitely be a step in the right direction for Colby Barlow.
