The Winnipeg Jets are in serious jeopardy of losing RFA Cole Perfetti as he remains un-signed heading into the NHL regular season.

According to NHL Network Radio's Dave McCarthy, multiple teams are reportedly contemplating submitting an offer sheet for the Jets forward this offseason.
McCarthy mentioned appearing live on the radio that his sources indicate "a number of teams" are willing to offer Perfetti a two-year deal with an average annual value (AAV) of "around $4.5 million."

The league has just witnessed two highly talented Edmonton Oilers players get snatched by offer sheets, and NHL's Dave McCarthy seems confident "multiple teams" will be submitting offer sheets to Perfetti in attempts to sway him away from the Jets
However, McCarthy also noted that while these teams are "willing" to make such an offer, they are "not likely to do it" because they expect the Jets to match it "in a heartbeat."
The possibility of other teams following suit and submitting new offer sheets for Perfetti could have impacted his ongoing contract negotiations with the Jets.

McCarthy explained the simple fact of having a few rumors floating about a potential offer sheet has given Perfetti leverage, allowing him to argue that "$4.5 million AAV" is his market value.

Although the media seems confident Perfetti will be remaining a Winnipeg Jet, receiving offer sheets from other teams will give Perfetti the leverage required in order to strike a suitable deal for himself.
Despite rumours of Perfetti staying in Winnipeg, Kevin Cheveldayoff should consider re-signing Perfetti ASAP as the possibility of losing him to another team looms over the organization.
