New details have surfaced regarding the Martin Necas Trade rejection.

It was recently announced that the Carolina Hurricanes rejected a trade offer from Winnipeg Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff.
Many NHL enthusiasts already know that the trade ultimately fell through the cracks due to Martin Necas not wanting to sign in Winnipeg long-term, but was there more to the picture?
NHL insider Frank Seravalli dropped this bombshell on the DFO Rundown podcast, revealing that the Jets offered a tantalizing package of top prospects Rutger McGroarty and Cole Perfetti, along with a draft pick, to lure Necas to the Canadian prairies.

The Hurricanes, known for their shrewd negotiation tactics, may have simply deemed the Jets' offer inadequate for a player of Necas' caliber and potential. Necas, at 25 years old, has shown flashes of brilliance and is on the cusp of becoming a premier NHL forward. Carolina may have been holding out for a more substantial return.

Many fans seem shocked that the deal Chevldayoff offered wasn't sweet enough. Top propsect Rutger McGroarty will be a future force in the NHL, while Cole Perfetti is a promising young talent. Although the trade looked promising, the trade package was deemed inadequate.
One thing is for sure, this has been one of the most frustrating off seasons for Kevin Cheveldayoff during is 14 tenure as the Winnipeg Jets GM.
