As we await the debut of the highly anticipated 2024-25 NHL regular season, Jets Latest takes an in depth look at key matchups regarding the Central divsion.
The Dallas Stars are one of the veteran teams who always seems to be a dominant force in the NHL. Over the past decade, the Stars have been playoff contenders, but have been held short of Stanley Cup glory.
The Jets on the other hand have slightly regressed this offseason. Kevin Cheveldayoff made no big spashes, and elite UFA's such as Brenden Dillon and Sean Monahan have walked away from the organization. With that in mind, how to the Jets stack up against the Stars?
According to The Hockey News, Both Winnipeg and Dallas have elite goalies in Connor Hellebuyck and Jake Oettinger, and both the Jets and Stars have solid defense corps. But if we had to choose between Dallas' forwards and Winnipeg's forwards, we'd take the Stars all day long.
There's a reason why the Stars went to the Western Conference final last season and the Jets were flushed out in the first round for the second straight year - it's because Dallas' depth up front was better, and we still believe that to be true.
"We believe Dallas is going to go far once again this season. If they do draw Winnipeg in the first or second round, the Stars are going to be the favorites to win a series against the Jets."
With that being said, the Jets are a pesky team who have the ability to surprise. Although the Stars are predicted to win the series, the Jets could be a wildcard and shock their opponent.
