Scott Billeck, a sports reporter for the Winnipeg Sun has issued an important update on Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine.

Patrik Laine has taken social media by storm the past few weeks. The rumours have been running rampant since the troubled forward has been cleared from the NHLPA's players assistance program thus making him qualified for trade negotiations.
Many NHL enthusiasts thought Winnipeg would be the prime landing spot for Laine, but Scott Billeck has recently shut those rumours down.
Scott Billeck of The Winnipeg Sun writes that he doesn't believe the Winnipeg Jets will pursue a reunion with former Jet Patrik Laine. Billeck cites the Jets' lack of cap space and poor fit as the reasons Winnipeg would pass on the former 2016 second-overall pick. The Jets would need to move out money to acquire the Columbus Blue Jackets forward, even if Columbus retained half of Laine's cap hit (something they are hesitant to do).

Billeck is usually right on the money with his predictions. Although hope still remains that Laine could make a reunion with the Jets, the probability becomes increasingly unlikely.
