In a recent post by Ken Wiebe of The Free Press, he suggested that the Jets are still uncertain about the second-line center position, which is certainly no secret to anybody who has looked at the roster. (from The Free Press, Kadri just what the Jets need, Aug. 15, 2024)
Kadri, who is entering the third year of his seven-year deal with an average annual value (AAV) of $7 million, likely isn't happy with the possiblity of working with the Flames organization throughout a rebuilding phase, in which the Flames currently seem to be working towards. Kadri has been a consistent 20-goal player throughout his career to date and was pivotal in helping lead the Colorado Avalanche towards a Stanley Cup victory.
Kadri at 34 years of age is likely looking to get to be asserted into a much higher asperations than what the Flames currently group can provide. The Jets' current position favours a potential spot and strong fit together for his services. Kadri does have a no-move clause, which means he would need to accept a trade to Winnipeg, which isn't always the case. With the Jets in "win now" mode, is a player of Kadri's talents what's needed to for playoffs success?
