Winnipeg Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff had an impactful message for his prospects during a recent media availability.
Its no secret that being a prospect within the Winnipeg Jets organization right now is an exciting time. With the departure of key UFA's during free agency, an opportunity has surfaced for the young players looking to make the jump to the NHL.
During media availability at theHlinka Gretzky Cup in Edmonton, Alberta, GM Kevin Cheveldayoff relayed a message to his propsects:
This fate felt inevitable for the Jets. Arniel is now in charge of plugging the holes left by Schmidt, Sean Monahan, Tyler Toffoli, and potentially Nikolaj Ehlers. If Winnipeg hopes to compete in a rugged Central Division, they must give their young players more responsibility.
It will be interesting to see which players rise to the occasion. The Winnipeg Jets arguably have the most exciting talent pool in the NHL, and at least one of the above mentioned will have a serious shot of cracking the starting roster.
