Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers will be representing team Denmark in the 2026 Winter Olympic qualifier against Great Britain later this month.
Jets head coach Scott Arniel confirmed to the Winnipeg Sun that Ehlers will play as Denmark hosts the Group F qualifying tournament as they take on Great Britain, Japan and Norway. The winner of the group will clinch their spot in the 2026 Olympics in Italy.
This is great new for Jets enthusiasts as one of their top forwards will be engaging in elite competition ahead of the 2024-25 NHL regular season. The qualifying games for the 2026 Winter Olympic in Milano-Cortina are poised to be intense matchups at the national level should will give Ehlers a huge edge moving forward.
«Playing in these qualifiers, I know it's going to be a big boost in getting him started, getting off and running and getting off to a good start in October,» Arniel added.
The 28-year-old Danish forward notched 25 goals and 61 points in 82 games last season, breaking the 20-goal mark for the seventh time in his career.
