Former Winnipeg Jet and New York Rangers captain Jacob Trouba is still being considered a viable trade option for the Detroit Red Wings.

Jacob Trouba has been causing quite the buzz in the NHL trade rumour mill this offseason. Many hockey enthusiasts are wondering if Trouba is still being hunted down by the Detroit Red Wings. Ideally, the Rangers would like to move on from their current captain, but Trouba is making things rather difficult.
For some reason, the Red Wings were the one team that reportedly had interest and there are ways to make it work -- assuming Trouba would be willing to go there. Detroit still has some salary cap flexibility, but that will disappear when Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider re-sign as restricted free agents. But it should still have some room to work with.

The Red Wings also have some contracts it could send back the other way to help make the money work. That includes Jeff Petry, Ben Chiarot, Olli Maatta or Justin Holl. Are any of those four players upgrades for the Rangers? Maybe not on paper.

Things get a little trickier regarding Trouba leaving NYC. His wife is in the process of completing her medical residency, and the couple just gave birth to their first born child and are ideally looking for some stability,
Although Trouba has a NTC under his current contract, It shouldn't deter the Red Wings from heavily pursuing him. Will a blockbuster trade happen? Only time will tell.
