Overall, sources are saying that the 2024 NHL draft was a success. Despite not being able to trade their way into the first round, the Jets managed to scoop up some high end talent, mixed with some strategic late round selections.

The top pick for the Winnipeg Jets was Swedish defensive prospect Alfons Freij, who is describes as an elite puck handler with high-end play making capabilities. The Jets were in serious need of help on the blue-line, and they ultimately achieved that by selecting Freij.
With that being said, we grade a B- to Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff. Although he wasn't able to use Rutger McGroarty to trade his way into the first round, Chevy was able to scoop up some high end talent with what he had to work with.
