Nikolaj Ehlers has been a focal point for the organization this NHL off season. With lots of uncertainties looming around is tenure in Winnipeg, Scott Arniel spoke to his importance to the club if he indeed stays for the 2024-25 regular season.
Nikolaj Ehlers will be looking to improve on his 61 point campaign last season. In addition to that, Ehlers will also be looking to get his home country of Denmark qualified for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milano-Cortina. Scott Arniel addressed that topic as well:
Arniel said Thursday he's excited for Ehlers's opportunity to help his team book their ticket to Italy, and just as eager that he's getting a head start ahead of training camp in the middle of September.
If Ehlers manages to get Denmark qualified for the Winter Olympic games, it will undoubtedly give him a jolt of confidence heading into the 2024-25 NHL season. Whatever happens during the Olympic qualifying round, its reassuring to know Arniel backs him up 100%.
