It was announced by the Athletic that the Winnipeg Jets will have more than $63 million dollars in open cap space to work with ahead of the 2025-26 NHL regular season.

This NHL offseason has been a nightmare for Jets enthusiasts. During this time, Kevin Chevdayoff only had roughly $13 million dollars in open cap space to work with. Understandably, those figures are relatively limiting, therefore fans are looking ahead to the 2025-26 NHL offseason to be the best one yet. So who do the Jets need to sign?
Who are the upcoming UFA's next season for the Winnipeg Jets?
At the end of the 2024-25 season, the Jets will have six unrestricted free agents (UFAs): Mason Appleton, Nikolaj Ehlers, Alex Iafallo, Axel Jonsson-Fjallby, Vladislav Namestnikov, and Neal Pionk. With the exception of Jonsson-Fjallby and barring a trade for Ehlers, all of these players are expected to be on the opening night roster and hold onto their lineup spots.
Who are the Winnipeg Jets upcoming RFA's?
On top of managing potential UFA extensions, the Jets will also have to keep in mind a number of restricted free agents (RFAs) they'll have at the end of the season (Morgan Barron, Rasmus Kupari, Dylan Samberg, and Gabriel Vilardi) and manage their remaining cap space accordingly.

The amount of UFA's and RFA's heading into free agency next season is overwhelming for Jets. Although Kevin Cheveldayoff will have a handsome budget to work with, the team must start thinking about who they will keep, and who they will let walk away.
