Time is Running Out For NHL Teams Negotiating With Unsigned RFA's

With NHL training camps beginning later in September, and some notable RFAs on the Red Wings, Bruins, Maple Leafs, Jets and Stars still remain unsigned.
NHL training camps will start opening in just over two weeks. That leaves a narrow window for clubs to get their unsigned RFAs under contract.
Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman tops that list. He and the Bruins reportedly remain far apart in negotiations despite both sides expressing confidence a deal will be done before training camp.
Swayman's camp was believed to be seeking an average annual value in the mid-$8 million range earlier this summer while the Bruins countered with something in the low-$6 million range.
Talks continue between the Winnipeg Jets and
Cole Perfetti. The Chicago Blackhawks consider signing the 22-year-old forward to an offer sheet. However, that's unlikely to happen given the Jets have over $5.7 million in cap space to match an offer.
Toronto Maple Leafs winger Nick Robertson remains unsigned as he reportedly still wants to be traded. However, GM Brad Treliving has dug in his heels, preferring to retain the 22-year-old winger in the hope he can build on last season's promising performance. This standoff could carry over into the training camp.
Teams are running out of time to get their RFA's under new contracts. How many of these players will been still unsigned running into next season? Only time will tell.
