Tragedy strikes as the hockey world is mourning the death of Creed Jones.


Police were called to the scene of a collision Friday shortly after midnight after two motorcycles collided on Highway 416 south at the Highway 417 split. OPP said both motorcycles were seen travelling at high rates of speed before the collision. One motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The other man was transported to the Ottawa Hospital Civic campus and was later pronounced dead.

The Rimouski Oceanic, where Jones had two stints, announced the tragic news. Jones began his career with the Wellington Dukes in the OJHL before moving to the QMJHL, where he played for the Gatineau Olympiques, Rimouski Oceanic, and Saint John Sea Dogs. He concluded his junior career with the University of Ottawa.

Creed Jones, 24, was known for his funny demeanor and kind heart. Jets latest and the NHL sends their condolences to the family of Creed Jones.
