Cole Perfetti has arguably been the most talked about RFA for the Winnipeg Jets this whole NHL offseason. Perfetti emerged as one of the front runners in the trade rumour mill over the past few months, but it seems that GM Kevin Cheveldayoff has is eyes set on keeping the young forward in the Jets system.
In terms of Perfetti's abilities offensively, here's some of what we know, statistically speaking, from his 2023-24 campaign. He put up career-highs in goals with 19 and points with 38. This was all-the-while skating just 13:35 a game. Furthermore, he posted a strong CF% Rel of 10.0. This means he was generating offence consistently.
Scott Billeck, a prominent writer for the Winnipeg Jets has reported that newly appointed Jets head coach Scott Arniel has been meeting with Perfetti 1-on-1. This suggests that communication has been positive and could lead to long-term contract considerations.
With brand new coaching systems set in place, Jets enthusiasts are led to believe that Cole Perfetti will be a massive part of Arniel's system moving forward. Although a contract extension hasn't been inked yet, theres a good chance it will be a longterm deal rather than a bridge contract.
