Winnipeg native Peyton Kettles plays a part in helping team Canada win the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.

The U-18 The Hlinka Gretzky Cup victors emerged on Saturday in Edmonton, Alberta. Team Canada finished off their flawless tournament after edging out Czechia 2-1. The final capped off Canada's perfect 5-0 run to take home the coveted trophy.
Winnipeg native Peyton Kettles made his impact felt early in the tournament with a goal in Canada's 10-0 win against Switzerland in their opening game. It happened to be Kettles' only point of the tournament but he did make his presence felt on the defensive end as Canada went on to allow just four goals total and never allowed an opponent to reach two or more goals in a tournament game.

The defensive prowess of the Canadian backend stumped even the most elite hockey countries like Sweden, U.S.A and Czechia. Kettles is just 16 years old and will return to Winnipeg to prepare for his next season in the WHL with the Swift Current Broncos. As a rookie, he finished with a pair of goals and 11 assists for 13 points in 61 games.

Peyton Kettles is emerging as one of the top defensive prospects in the WHL. Known as a sturdy presence on the blue-line, hockey scouts will continue to keep a close eye on the talented Kettles as he is sure to be a promising NHL talent in the future.
