Breaking news out of Winnipeg as the Columbus Blue Jackets have signed Jets forward Sean Monahan.

The Blue Jackets have agreed to terms with Sean Monahan for a monster five year deal worth $5.5 Million AAV per season.
This has many nostalgic Calgary Flames fans excited as Sean Monahan will be reunited with former all-star line mate Johnny Gaudreau.
Monahan played 83 games in 2023-24, getting an extra game after he was traded to the Winnipeg Jets from Montreal in February. It was a bit of a resurgent year for Monahan, who fell just short of 60 points, which he had not come close to touching since he scored 82 with the Calgary Flames in 2018-19.
Similar to his teammate Laurent Brossoit who has acquired recently by the Chicago Blackhawks, Monahan's resurgence meant a huge increase in pay which Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff couldn't afford.
