The Winnipeg Jets former backup goaltender Laurent Brossoit has been acquired the Chicago Blackhawks.
Sources say the Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to terms with goalie Laurent Brossoit for 2 years on a contract valued at $3.3 million AAV per season.
Only suiting up in 23 games for Winnipeg last season, Brossoit performed exceptionally well for the Jets. He finished the year with a 15-5-2 record to go alongside an even 2.00 goals against average, a .927 save percentage and three shutouts.
Although Brossoit played extremely well for the Jets last season, many foresaw this coming as Brossoit was only signed to a one year deal with the Jets.
With the Winnipeg Jets fighting through a tight salary cap situation, Brossoit was poised for a massive raise next season. The Jets will need to look internally within their farm system to find a suitable replacement for Brossoit.
