Breaking news coming out of Winnipeg as Daily Faceoff announces who the Jets will likely be selecting ahead of the 2024 NHL draft.

The Winnipeg Jets are set to have the 37th pick in this years draft. Although lots of the high end talent will already be scooped up, there may be a silver lining as sources speculate the Jets will be selecting 17 year old American defenseman Cole Hutson.
Playing for the North Jersey Avalanche, he scored 32 goals and dished out 68 assists for 100 points in just 65 games and earned a spot in the National Development Program. He averaged a point-per-game with 15 goals and 36 assists in 51 games in 2023-24 and set the NTDP record for career points by a defenceman at 119 and beating out the second-best total by eight, and his brother by nearly 30 points.

The Winnipeg Jets faced lots of difficulties on the blue line towards the end of the year, especially in the post season, so it comes as no surprise they plan on selecting a defensive prospect. Cole Hutson is a top scoring defenseman with two-way capabilities. He's a talented skater known for being able to join the rush, but also has great defensive poise in his own end.
He can handle the pressure of the big stage, as shown during the 2023 U18 World Junior Championships, where he recorded a goal and 11 assists in seven games for the U.S. National Team. He followed it up with four goals and nine assists in seven games at the 2024 U18 World Junior Championships.
