Although the news might not be recent, we take a look why the Winnipeg Jets dodged a bullet with forward Pierre-Luc Dubois.
Last week, the Los Angeles Kings made a blockbuster one for one trade with the Washington Capitals involving Pierre Luc-Dubois and goaltender Darcy Kuemper.
This trade came as no surprise to the Winnipeg Jets faithful as many foresaw Dubois being a bust for the Kings. The Los Angeles Kings have some breathing room now as they offloaded his monstrous $68 million dollar contract.
Dubois, soon-to-be 26, had just 16 goals and 40 points in his first 82 games as a member of the Kings - surely a major disappointment following the hefty price his GM paid to acquire him. Now, the best Rob Blake could do was hope to get his money back by sending Dubois off into the sunset for an aging goaltender.
The Winnipeg Jets fanbase can rest a little easier at night as general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff opted out to re-sign Dubois to his ridiculous contract demands.
Many Jets hockey insiders are cringing at the new deal made by the Washington Capitals as they can only wait for the worst to happen. Could yet another change of scenery breathe new life into Dubois game?
