Things just got a little more interesting today as we enter the first day of the 2024 NHL draft.
The Buffalo Sabres are the lates NHL team to check in on Winnipeg Jets top prospect Rutger McGroarty. The Buffalo Sabres have an impressive young pool of talent are are looking to continue to add to their elite depth.
According to Winnipeg Free Press' Mike McIntyre, he was informed by a source that the Buffalo Sabres are one of the teams who have "checked in" on Winnipeg Jets top prospect Rutger McGroarty. The other clubs that McIntyre mentioned being interested in McGroarty include the Boston Bruins, Columbus Blue Jackets, and New York Islanders.
McGroarty, who was selected 14th overall by the Winnipeg Jets in 2022 is reported to out out of the organization after rumours circulating that the top prospect in "unhappy" with the Jets.
The Buffalo Sabres are an interesting team to consider doing a deal with, especially because they have a 14th overall pick in their back pocket and could likely use that as trade bait to entice Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff into a deal.
