The New York Islanders are seriously condisering making a move for Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers?

Today marks one of the busiest days in the NHL as the highly anticipated draft is set to begin today in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Islanders find themselves in a crucial position, as today they must make a decision regarding what do do with their 20th overall pick. Do they take a chance on their first round selection, or do they make a safe bet and hunt down Winnipeg Jets top forward Nikolaj Ehlers.
Surely, they will need to add more to the mix to sweeten the deal for Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff. So with that in mind, what else could the Islanders trade to the Jets for their 1st round pick? Sources are speculating that the Islanders have some additional players in their talent pool they are willing to give up alonside their 1st round pick.
Second-year NHLer Simon Holmstrom, the last player the Islanders took in the first round back in 2019 at No. 23, could be on the move, as well as Ruslan Iskhakov (No. 43 in 2018), who played one regular season game and one playoff game after being named an AHL All-Star in each of his first two seasons with the organization.

The big question remains, will that be sufficient enough for the Jets? Ehlers is a beloved member of the Jets organization and and elite player in the NHL. Kevin Cheveldayoff will have to work his magic to get a blockbuster deal done.
