TSN hockey analyst Frank Corrado has predicted a trade which would send shockwaves down the NHL.
Nikolaj Ehlers has been the center of attention this offseason as rumours have surfaced that he's on the Winnipeg Jets trading block. The Carolina Hurricanes are also trying to find a solution for Martin Necas who recently elected salary arbitration.
The proposed trade by TSN's Frank Corrado is one for one exchange that would see Necas come to the Jets in exchange for Nikolaj Ehlers. Corado suggests the Jets would be winners in the trade as Martin Necas still hasn't hit his prime and theres still significant room for offensive growth.
«If you're giving up a scoring winger, it would have to be an evenly talented, or maybe even more talented scoring winger coming back. You're going to get a deal done with Necas, who's in his mid-20s, that's going to take him into his early 30s,» Corrado refers to the Jets getting Necas, as he expects to hit his prime in the next few seasons.
Of course, the Jets would be taking a massive gamble on Necas. If Necas still hasn't hit his prime yet, a trade would make sense as the Jets would be acquiring an NHL pro with a similar skill set to Ehlers, but with more growth potential.
